NBA Black Shorts Review: Everyday Casual Style, S–6XL
We ordered and tested the $8.06 NBA black shorts: polyester four-way stretch, 3D printed graphics, straight hem, S–6XL. The print and price impressed us; fit stays unconfirmed because the listing publishes no waist, hip or inseam numbers.

What we ordered
We ordered the NBA black shorts in everyday casual style (SKU 7720589914) through our normal buying process and had them shipped to the testing lab in downtown Los Angeles. The listing price at the time of order was $8.06, marked down from a $9.22 original, and the item showed as in stock. The seller lists the shorts as a black base with 3D printed graphics across the front, polyester four-way stretch fabric with light give, a straight leg opening, standard thickness, hip-hop styling, and a size run from S through 6XL. The listing also carries a stated 1–3 cm measurement tolerance, which matters more than usual here because no waist, hip or inseam figures are published anywhere on the page.
How our testing team checked them
Shorts are simple garments, so the giveaway details sit in the finishing. We ran the pair through the same ten-point inspection we use for every featured item, adapted to a short: outer packaging and poly bag, the waistband tag and any brand labeling, the smell straight out of the bag, stitching density along the side seams, the cut edge and coverage of the 3D print, hem finishing at the leg opening, pocket placement and depth, side seam alignment from waistband to hem, fabric weight and stretch recovery, and the overall silhouette once the shorts were on a body rather than flat on the bench.
After the bench inspection we wore the shorts for more than 20 hours each across a mix of walking and light running, then laid them next to a retail NBA short kept in the lab as a reference. We also measured them flat at the waistband, hip and hem, and compared those numbers against the seller's chart, which is where the review turns cautious.
Fabric, print and construction
The material behaves like the listing describes: a polyester four-way stretch with a light, springy give rather than a compression feel. It is a standard-weight summer fabric, not a heavy mesh, and it moved with us through stride work without riding up. The black base hides creasing well, which is one reason this silhouette works so easily in casual outfits.
The 3D print is the loudest thing about the shorts and the reason most people will click. Ours came out with clean graphic coverage across the front and no obvious misregistration, though up close the print edges are softer than the crispness of our retail reference, and the relief is shallower than the "3D" label implies. Stitching along the side seams was even and free of loose threads, and the hem sat flat with no twisting. None of that is a surprise at this price point; it just means the shorts read best from conversational distance.
"The fabric is extremely breathable... black is a classic, versatile color, the workmanship is fine, the stitching is neat, and there are no loose threads at all." — a buyer review of black basketball shorts elsewhere, included as category context rather than a measurement of this listing.
Fit and sizing: still the open question
This is where we slow down. The listing runs S through 6XL, which is an unusually wide spread for a replica short, but it publishes no waist, hip or inseam numbers. Our flat measurements lined up plausibly with the labeled size, and with a stated 1–3 cm tolerance the shorts have room for manufacturing drift, so two pairs of the same size may not measure identically.
Community notes on NBA shorts elsewhere pull in opposite directions. Some buyers describe authentic NBA cuts as constricting, with a waistband that feels tight even at the correct numeric size, while others call the cut true to size — one buyer at 173 cm and 82 kg took an XL. The most consistent advice is to follow the official chart, because going up a size mostly adds width rather than length; Nike's published NBA shorts chart maps S–3XL to numeric sizes 30–50 by waist and hip, and notes that tall versions add roughly 5 cm of length. The seller here does not offer a tall option, and no inseam is listed, so if length matters to you, treat this pair as a standard cut until the seller says otherwise.
Our own pair fit close at the waistband, which is consistent with the constricting reports — but that is one pair of one size, not a verdict on the run. Measure your own waist and hip, then compare against the seller's chart before ordering.
Styling it for everyday casual
The assigned focus for this review is how the shorts work outside the gym, and this is where they earn their keep. The black base keeps the graphic from fighting the rest of an outfit, so the shorts sit comfortably in a plain white or grey tee with low-profile sneakers — the default warm-weather uniform. The straight leg opening keeps the line relaxed rather than tapered, which reads better with a wider shoe and a slightly baggier tee than with a slim cropped top.
For a layered sport-casual look, add an oversized black or charcoal hoodie and let the print do the work; because the shorts are already graphic-heavy, keep everything else neutral. Avoid pairing them with a second printed piece — the hip-hop styling the listing names tips into costume quickly. Waistband fit is the one styling variable we cannot solve for you: a close waistband makes the waistband-as-feature look harder to pull off, and a tucked tee will show the fit immediately.
Price and what it buys
At $8.06 the shorts sit at the bottom of the replica shorts market, and the construction is roughly what that buys: even stitching and a clean print on a light polyester shell, with finishing that loses composure when you look closely. Judged against our retail reference, the differences are print crispness and fabric density rather than anything that breaks the look on the street. If you expect a heavy, structured short, this is not it.
What to check before you buy
- Ask the seller for waist, hip and inseam measurements, or at minimum a flat-measured chart, before you pick a size.
- Request close-ups of the side seams and the print edges — the two places where a batch can slip.
- Confirm which colorway and graphic the selected option maps to, using the seller's own photographs rather than the main image.
- Wash cold, inside out, and skip high heat so the print stays intact.

Frequently asked
What sizes does this listing offer?
S through 6XL. The listing publishes no waist, hip or inseam numbers, so measure yourself and compare against the seller's chart before ordering.
Do NBA shorts run small?
Mixed. Some buyers call authentic NBA shorts constricting with a tight waistband even at the right numeric size; others say the cut runs true to size. That is category feedback, not a measurement of this item.
Is the fabric and print quality confirmed?
We inspected our pair: polyester four-way stretch with light give, a straight hem and a front 3D print that survived past 20 hours of wear. Ask the seller for close-ups of seams and print edges.

Picked these up in a 3XL and honestly for $8 the 3D print looks way better than it should. Wear them to the gym and around town, no one's called them out. Only thing is sizing is a total gamble since there's no waist or inseam listed anywhere, I just guessed off other reps I've bought. Went true to my normal size and they fit fine but I could see it going wrong for someone else.
Grabbed these in a 2XL and honestly for $8 they feel better than expected. The 3D print on the side doesn't crack after a few washes which is more than I can say for other cheap shorts I've bought. Main gripe is the same as the review, no size chart anywhere so I just guessed. 2XL fits me like a normal XL would, so size up if you're between sizes.
