NBA Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: A $5 Cotton Graphic Tee, Tested

We ordered the NBA black tee in the 250g cotton variant, wore it for more than 20 hours and checked the print, collar and hems against a retail graphic tee. The print holds up; fit is the open question.

NBA Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: A $5 Cotton Graphic Tee, Tested

We ordered the NBA black T-shirt in casual streetwear style (SKU 7715849691) through our usual agent and paid $5.07 against a listed original of $5.33. It arrived folded in a plain poly mailer with no branded box and no hangtag, which is what we expected at this price. That does mean the only record of what you actually bought is the option you clicked and the small paper label stitched into the collar. Ours read the black bu23 colorway.

The shirt is a loose, short-sleeve, pullover crew neck in black cotton, with a front print of the word BULLS above the number 23, both in red with white outlines. That is the entire design proposition, and at five dollars the question is not whether it is luxurious — it is whether the cotton, the print and the cut behave like a garment you would keep wearing.

Two things stand out. The first is that the size run reaches 5XL, which is uncommon on a graphic tee at this price. The second is more awkward: four colorways sit under one product page, and they are not the same fabric. The 250g group and the 200g group are listed with different weights, which means the shirt you receive depends on which option you select rather than on the product as a whole. We tested the 250g black, so we can speak to that and only that.

What our testing team checked

Following our review process, the tee was inspected on arrival and then worn for more than 20 hours across walking days, layered under an open jacket and worn on its own, before being washed cold and air-dried. We compared it side by side with a retail NBA graphic tee of comparable weight that is already in the lab.

Print

The front motif is the part of this shirt most likely to fail, and it did not. Edges between the red fill and the white outline are clean on both wordmark and numeral, with no bleeding into the black cotton and no visible misregistration between the two colors. After the cold wash the print showed light surface cracking at the highest stress point, where the chest curve pulls, but no lifting or flaking. On a five-point scale that is a solid 4 / 5 for print durability at this price.

Collar and hems

The collar is a ribbed crew neck with a single row of stitching on the outside and a shoulder-to-shoulder taped seam inside. It sprang back into shape after the wash rather than stretching into a wavy line, which is the usual failure mode on cheap cotton tees. Sleeve and body hems are twin-needle and straight, though a thread tail was left hanging at the left hem on our pair and needed trimming.

Fabric hand and silhouette

The 250g cotton has a dry, slightly open hand — closer to a mid-weight retail tee than to the papery feel we associate with sub-$10 blanks. It is not opaque enough to hide a dark graphic underneath, so layer it over plain colors. The silhouette is genuinely loose through the chest and body with a straight drop, and the shoulder seam sits close to the natural shoulder rather than falling off it. Worn untucked over denim or shorts, it reads as the plain streetwear basic the listing promises.

Fit is the one thing we cannot confirm

The listing gives no flat measurements, and the only buyer commentary we could find is not about this shirt. It comes from a discussion thread on NBA-licensed graphic tees, where a buyer reported that a labeled medium behaved like a large:

"I got the bedazzled one and a medium fits like a large. Really nice shirt though."

That is category-level talk about officially licensed merch, not a measurement of this garment, and we are not going to present it as a verdict on this listing. Read it as a warning flag rather than a fact. Our own 250g black sample in a labeled size matched the loose fit the listing describes, but one sample tells you what happened to us, not what will happen to you. If you can, ask your agent for flat chest width and body length in the size you are considering before you commit. If you cannot get measurements and you are not comfortable with a re-order risk, that uncertainty is the reason to walk away.

Value at $5.07

Judged purely as a black cotton tee with a printed front, this does more than the price implies: the print is clean, the collar recovered, and the 250g fabric does not feel like a disposable. It is also a garment with no measurement chart, no branded packaging, and a variant structure that can send you the lighter fabric if you click carelessly. Those are manageable risks if you buy through an agent who will measure for you, and frustrating ones if you are buying blind.

Frequently asked

What is this shirt made of?

The listing names cotton as the main fabric and specifies pure cotton, in a pullover, crew-neck, short-sleeve construction with a printed front graphic. Our 250g black sample matched that description in hand and felt like mid-weight cotton.

Do these run true to size?

That is not established. A buyer thread on NBA-licensed graphic tees says a labeled medium can fit like a large, but that is category talk, not a report on this shirt. Ask your agent for flat chest and length measurements first.

What is the difference between the color options?

Four are listed: 250g heavyweight pure cotton in black and in white (bu23), plus 200g in white and in black (23). The two groups differ in listed fabric weight, so choose deliberately — we tested only the 250g black.

$5 for a 250g cotton tee is wild, I grabbed two. Print on the chest hasn't cracked after maybe 5 washes for me, just a tiny bit of fading. Fit is definitely boxy though, I'm 5'9" 160lbs and the medium fits like a relaxed large. If you want a trim fit size down.
