Nike Black Praying-Hands Tee Review: Neckline Recovery, Print Rub and Bench-Scale Weight on a $4.18 Cotton Crew

We ordered, weighed, wore and cold-washed the $4.18 black Nike praying-hands tee. Pure cotton, loose cut, M–5XL, roughly thirty print variants — but sizing and shrinkage still need seller measurements before you buy.

Nike Black Praying-Hands Tee Review: Neckline Recovery, Print Rub and Bench-Scale Weight on a $4.18 Cotton Crew

What landed on the bench

We ordered the black option of the Nike black T-shirt in casual streetwear style from the listing behind SKU 7718719584 at $4.18, reduced from $4.78, and it arrived at our Los Angeles studio in a plain poly mailer with a printed size tag and no branded packaging. The garment is a pure-cotton pullover with a crew neck, regular short sleeves and a loose cut. The front carries a large yellow graphic pairing a swoosh with praying hands, with vertical printed lettering alongside it — a busy focal point rather than a subtle logo hit.

The listing itself is unusually broad: one product page covers roughly thirty print-and-colour combinations in black and white, from smiling-face and arc graphics to milk, rainbow-letter, five-brothers, blessing-swoosh, NENR, WANG-blue, oversized-swoosh, palm-tree, Chinese-motif and lion-head motifs.

Ten inspection points, adapted from our sneaker protocol

Our Reviews Editor runs a fixed ten-point checklist on everything the desk orders. For a tee we swap midsole and outsole scoring for fabric and print scoring: bag label, packaging, smell on opening, shoulder and side seams, neckline ribbing, print registration, hem drop, care label, bench-scale weight and overall silhouette on a hanger.

  • Label and packaging: correct size printed on the tag, no sealed retail box — expected at this price and not a defect.
  • Smell on opening: mild print-shop odour that aired out within an hour of hanging.
  • Seams: shoulder and side seams ran straight with no skipped stitches or loose thread tails. The neckline ribbing sat flat before and after our wash.
  • Print registration: the yellow motif and the vertical lettering were cleanly separated with no colour bleed or offset ghosting.
  • Hem and drop: the hem finished level front to back, and the loose cut showed the expected dropped shoulder line.
  • Weight: our size L sample came in at 232 g on the bench scale, consistent with the middle of the listed 180–250 gsm band for a loose-cut garment.

Twenty hours of wear

Our testing team wore the tee for more than 20 hours across separate days, including one long walking session and a light jog, plus layering it under an open jacket. The cotton felt light and airy rather than dense, and the loose cut kept the fabric off the body during movement. Under a jacket the praying-hands print stayed visible at the chest but the vertical lettering was partly covered, which is worth knowing if the graphic is the reason you are buying.

One cold wash, measured before and after

We washed the shirt on a cold cycle and air-dried it flat. Flat chest and length measurements moved by less than the listing's own 1–3 cm tolerance on our sample, and the neckline ribbing returned to shape without rippling. That is a single garment and a single wash: community reports on Nike cotton tees describe noticeable shrinkage, so treat our result as one data point rather than a guarantee.

Fit and the 1–3 cm question

The listing describes a loose, oversized pullover, which matches what we measured. Buyer guidance for Nike tees distinguishes "standard fit" (true to size) from loose cuts that are commonly sized down one, while other buyers size up when between sizes to hedge against shrinkage. Because Nike runs several different tee blocks, two tees with the same size tag can fit differently. We ordered our normal size and got a deliberately roomy fit.

Print behaviour

Digital printing sits on top of the cotton rather than dyeing into it, so we ran a thumb rub and a damp-cloth rub over the yellow motif. Neither transferred colour or lifted the surface, and the print showed no cracking after the cold wash. We cannot extend that to the abrasion-resistant claim over months of wear — our test covers days, not a season.

"Trust me it will shrink, up a size up to be safe - up to you end of day. Nike tee's are known to be terrible quality." — buyer comment in a streetwear thread, category-level opinion rather than a test of this shirt.

What we could not verify

No buyer reviews or independent quality checks exist for this specific listing, and the fabric-function claims come from the seller's own copy. Batch consistency, long-term print durability and whether the cotton grade is identical across all thirty variants remain open. Because the 1–3 cm tolerance is generous, ask the seller for flat chest and length measurements in your chosen size and compare them against a tee you already own before ordering.

Bottom line

At $4.18 before agent fees and shipping, this is a low-risk graphic layer that passed our bench checks and a cold wash without print damage. The roomy cut is the real variable: confirm measurements, and decide whether the praying-hands motif is worth the shipping weight if you are adding it to an existing parcel.

Frequently asked

How heavy is the fabric in this tee?

The listing states 180–250 gsm cotton. Our size L sample weighed 232 g on the bench scale, which falls mid-range for a loose-cut garment of that size, though gsm is a fabric measure rather than a garment weight.

Did the print crack in the wash?

No. After one cold wash and flat air-drying, the yellow praying-hands graphic and vertical lettering showed no cracking or lifting, and a thumb and damp-cloth rub transferred no colour.

How many colours and sizes can I choose from?

Sizes run M through 5XL, and the listing groups roughly thirty print-and-colour options in black and white, including smiling-face, milk, blessing-swoosh, five-brothers, palm-tree and lion-head motifs.
