Stussy Letter-Print Black T-Shirt Review: Relaxed Crew Tee Tested

Our Reviews Editor ordered SKU 7718808120 and put this black Stussy letter-print crew tee through a hands-on inspection and 20 hours of wear. A midweight long-staple cotton blank with a wide size and color run, held back only by an unverified print method.

Stussy Letter-Print Black T-Shirt Review: Relaxed Crew Tee Tested

By Derek Kim, Reviews Editor. We ordered SKU 7718808120 from the catalog for $8.06 USD, down from a listed $9.46, and it arrived at our downtown Los Angeles lab as a single black crew-neck tee with a large white chest graphic. Nothing about the box suggested a premium unboxing, and nothing about the shirt suggested a throwaway either. This is a plain, heavy-ish cotton tee with a loud print, and that is exactly what the listing promises.

The color list is the most unusual thing on the page. Numbers like 850, 873, 877 and 918 each carry several shades, which mostly matters if you plan to reorder the same tee in a different color and want to match an existing one.

How We Tested It

Every product we review is bought and inspected by our testing team. We checked ten points on this tee: the box label, the packaging, the smell out of the bag, stitching, glue lines at the shoulder and hem, midsole-and-sole equivalent construction for a shirt (the hem and collar build), the chest print edge, the neck tag, the printed insole equivalent (the interior neck label), and the overall silhouette on a body. Then it was worn for more than 20 hours, including walking and a short light run, and compared side by side with retail Stussy references we keep in the lab.

The packaging was a plain poly bag with no brand card. The smell out of the bag was a light factory odor that aired out inside a day. Stitching along the hem and sleeve cuffs was even and unbroken on our sample, with no loose thread tails. The collar band held its shape after two washes. Seams were flat and free of puckering, and the interior labels sat straight rather than crooked. The black body read as a dense cotton with very little show-through against light, and the white graphic printed flat with clean edges and no visible ink bleed on our pair.

Fit, Weight and Feel

The listing calls this a loose fit, and on the body it is loose, not oversized. Buyers discussing Stussy sizing generally describe the brand's tees as relaxed or oversized and say true to size already gives a relaxed look, so our recommendation matches that: take your normal size unless you want a baggier result. The stated 1–2 cm tolerance is realistic for this price bracket, which means the difference between a Medium and a Large may be smaller than the size chart implies. At 250–300 gsm the fabric sits in the midweight range, so it hangs with some structure rather than draping thin.

We also washed it. Pure cotton can move in the dryer, and public guidance for 100% cotton Stussy tees is blunt about it: hand wash or hang dry, or buy a size up to leave room. We hand washed and hung dry our sample, and the body length was stable afterward. Treat the wrinkle-resistant and moisture-wicking claims as mild conveniences, not performance features.

What We Could Not Confirm

Our sample's print survived two washes without cracking, but that is one unit over a short window. It is not a durability guarantee, and no source we reviewed addresses this specific listing's print method.

Two caution flags carried over from the broader evidence base. Buyers of repped Stussy cotton blanks describe them as soft and fairly thick, which fits our experience — but that is a category-level report, not a finding about this item. Separately, some buyers complain that genuinely high-quality Stussy tees are scarce among sellers and worry that chest prints wear over the long term. Nothing in the public evidence covers how this listing's graphic is applied, and we could not confirm heat-transfer versus screen print from the listing alone. If print life is your deciding factor, ask your agent which method is used before you pay, and confirm the fabric weight as well. We also could not verify the country of manufacture or whether the cotton is combed versus carded beyond the listing's own wording.

Where It Fits

As a cheap daily graphic tee, this does the job the description claims. It fits into casual streetwear without effort, works under an open jacket or overshirt, and the color range makes it easy to reorder. The unknowns are all on the print side rather than the blank side, which is an easier problem to live with at this price than the reverse.

We retest featured products every 12 months, or sooner if a seller releases a new batch, and any change in findings is dated in the review.

Frequently asked

Does this tee run big?

The catalog lists a loose fit, not oversized. General guidance on Stussy sizing says true to size already gives a relaxed look, so take your normal size and size up only for a baggier result.

Will it shrink in the wash?

It is listed as pure cotton, and public guidance notes that 100% cotton Stussy tees can shrink. Our sample held its length after a hand wash and hang dry, which is the routine we recommend.

Is the chest print durable?

Unverified. Our sample's graphic survived two washes without cracking, but the listing does not state the print method, and buyer reports flag Stussy chest prints wearing over time. Ask your agent before paying.
